DVD of a 1993 Jimmie Roger's Special with Otis Roy, who idolized Jimmie Rogers.  He met Jimmie in 1928 and sang his songs for 70 years.

The most populr selction from this program on youtube is the TB Blues.  Jimmie died of TB in 1936.  In those days there was no cure for TB.  He had TB before he became famous and he wrote several graphic songs about dying.
"Gee the grave yard is a lonely place." His story was nearly as important to his songs for the millions of people who adored the father of country music, Jimmie Rogers.

Babe Sims, brother was a friend of Jimmie Rogers.  He talks about his generosity. His section is filled with downhome humor.

Lee Dacus talks about first hearing Jimmie on an old victrola.

Carl Walden knows those Jimmie Roger runs.

Penelope Torribio is a "Female On Fire Artist"
Vol. 1 of 3 vol. of great women singer-songwriters.

The song "A Little bit of gold came from a real situation. a 17 year old girl was murdered.  The news dismissed her as a 17 year old prostitute.  It was like it didn't matter because she used her body to earn money.

To tell you the truth I went on a binge of writing prostitute songs. One was about a woman who went into prostitution because she thought it was the only way she could take care of her children. Another turned to prostitution because she had been abused.  But then I decided that it didn't matter what the reason. This girls life was still of value, so I wrote a song about a woman who went into prostitution because she thought she was good at it. I'm not advocating this as a profession, but it is not a reason to discount the life of a woman.
